Dhunela/India

Lotus Petal Sr. Sec. School (LPSSS) is an integrated educational & skill development campus under the aegis of ASED’s partner Lotus Petal Foundation. The campus, spreads out over 5 acres, has state-of-the-art sustainable infrastructure and is located in Dhunela, Sohna, Gurugram. The campus hosts classes from Grade KG (kindergarten) to Grade 10th with an enrolment of 900+ students.

The present Early Childhood Development (ECD) project proposes to create a learning environment that enhances the early learning experiences and outcomes of the pre-primary students. With support from ASED & ERI, LPF revamped the classroom interiors for students in Grades KG, 1st, and 2nd, incorporating new furniture, updating teaching resources, integrating advanced learning tools alongwith with a high-quality playground suitable for pre-primary grades.

Classroom Renovation: Through meticulous renovation efforts, an open space was transformed into three classrooms designated for Grades KG, 1st, and 2nd. These vibrant and engaging spaces now boast of interactive and activity-based learning setups, fostering creativity and student engagement.

Thoughtful Classroom Design & Furniture: Each classroom’s layout was meticulously crafted to foster an optimal learning environment. Notably, essential features such as built-in blackboards and a central learning wall were incorporated. Furthermore, the enhancements to the classroom infrastructure also included the installation of low-floor tables, rubberized mats, shoe racks, shelves, etc. for the Kindergarten, and dual desks, bookshelves, etc. for Grades 1 & 2. A small library is being incorporated in each of these classrooms to organize learning resources, educational materials, and books.

Enriched Learning Tools: A variety of learning tools were procured, encompassing flashcards, spelling games, story cards, and educational books. These resources facilitate learning across diverse subjects such as language, mathematics, and science, thereby fostering literacy and critical thinking skills among students.

Language & Literacy Development Resources: Special emphasis was placed on language and literacy development, with resources such as flashcards, match and spell kits, clay, abacus, fruit and vegetable baskets, alphabets, spelling puzzles, sight word puzzles and blocks seamlessly integrated into the curriculum. These tools also enhance communication skills.

Modern Outdoor Playground: The establishment of a modern outdoor playground adds another dimension to the learning experience at Lotus Petal Foundation. Complete with swings, slides, climbing structures, and rubberized mats the playground provides students with opportunities for physical activity and social interaction.
